FAQ

Questions about
bot.mcp.

Which hosts it works with, where the data comes from, and how changes get approved.

What is an AEO agent?

Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the work of getting a brand named and cited in AI answers. An AEO agent is an assistant that can do that work. bot.mcp gives your assistant the data and workflows to do it, alongside SEO.

Which platforms does it work with?

Claude on the web and desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Cursor, Codex CLI and any MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in. Add https://mcp.bot.spot/mcp and sign in with your Botspot account.

Where does the data come from?

AI visibility comes from the answers Botspot records on seven engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot. Site readiness comes from your stored site audit. Rankings, keywords, backlinks, live results and page checks come from a search-data provider, and performance from Lighthouse. A backlink or a ranking is not an AI citation, so the two are kept apart.

Does it change anything without asking?

No. Reading changes nothing. Every write shows you the exact change and waits for your approval. bot.mcp never writes to your website. Your agent does, where you can review the diff.

Will it get us cited by ChatGPT?

No tool can promise that. bot.mcp shows where you're missing, why, what to change and when to recheck, so you can see whether the change worked.

Does it replace our SEO tool?

It covers the SEO work tied to AI visibility: your search footprint, rankings, keyword research and gaps, backlinks, live results and page checks. It doesn't crawl whole sites or keep ranking history, so keep your SEO suite for those.
